A special ceremony was held on the 17th September 2015 at the CEB Head Office premises to mark the 141st birth anniversary of Engineer D.J.Wimalasurendra, the father of Hydro Power in Sri Lanka. Hon Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy paid his respects by garlanding the statue of Engineer Wimalasurendra. Hon Ajith P Perera, the deputy minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Eng. Anura Wijayapala, Chairman CEB, Eng. Nihal Wickramasuriya, Vice Chairman CEB, Eng. M.C. Wickramasekara, the General Manager CEB and a large number of CEB staff attended the ceremony.
