World Environmental Day which falls on 5th June, is the day for encouraging worldwide awareness to take action to protect the environment. The theme for 2018 World Environmental Day was, ‘Beating Plastic Pollution’.
Mannar Wind Power Project along with Mannar-Nadukuda Transmission Line Development Project and Mannar Transmission Development Project, arranged a Plastic Collection Programme to commemorate World Environmental Day on 5th June 2018 at Olaithoduvai, Mannar Island. Plastic bottles (PET), Rigifoam, and other discarded plastic materials were collected separately using garbage bags and handed over to Mannar Solid Waste Management Centre located at Thalaimannar road.
CEB employees of the above three projects participated in the programme.
